Craven County task force jails 28 people on various drug and firearm charges (2024)

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN)- Multiple law enforcement agencies say they worked together to arrest 28 people on various drug and firearm charges.

Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes says four different units conducted search warrants and proactive patrols in areas where residents have called to report drug and firearm activity.

Through the arrests, deputies seized 22.2 ounces of heroin/ fentanyl, 50 ounces of methamphetamine, just over six kilos of cocaine, and 230 dosage units of pills.

Deputies say the confiscated drugs didn’t reach the community and helped to prevent overdoses.

During the searches, deputies found 47 firearms illegally possessed by convicted felons or firearms reported stolen and $27,000 in cash.

Those arrested were:

  • John Nigh was charged with three counts assault on a law enforcement officer inflicting serious bodily injury, felony alter/destroy criminal evidence, felony possession of fentanyl, resisting public officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Brian Singleton was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession of Schedule VI controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Amber Fiolek was charged with felony of possession of Schedule II controlled substances, possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances on jail premise, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Dakwonte Perry was charged with possess stolen firearm, felony flee and elude with motor vehicle, reckless driving to endanger, possess Schedule VI controlled substance, and possess drug paraphernalia.
  • Jason Purser was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Erikia Silver was charged with felony possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Darren Harper was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule I controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Pah Ket was charged with possess controlled substance on jail premises.
  • Angela Leohmann was charged with trafficking heroin, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver fentanyl, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Christopher Murray was charged with felony possession of Schedule II controlled substances and simple possession of Schedule III controlled substances.
  • Andrew Frye was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possess drug paraphernalia.
  • James Swindell, Jr. was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Scheduled I controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Billy Ellison, Jr. was charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Scheduled II Controlled Substance, and felony maintaining a dwelling/ vehicle for controlled substances.
  • Sean Teague was charged with possession of firearm by felon and felony probation violation.
  • Bobbie Gemmell was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Kimberly Gray was charged with felony possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Timothy Lee was charged with two counts of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Matthew Rawls was charged with felony possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Kristin Bell was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule III controlled substance, felony possession of fentanyl, felony conspiracy, and possess controlled substance on jail premises.
  • Zamir Hardesty was charged with two counts of trafficking fentanyl, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of Schedule VI controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Wesley Day was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Edward Tyndall II was charged with felony possessions of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Wendy Long was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of heroin, felony possession of Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Susan Sparks was charged with felony possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Jennie Holt was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession of schedule VI-controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Clarence Bowlding was charged with felony possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Michael Elliot, Jr. was charged with felony possession of Schedule II controlled substance, possess Schedule VI controlled substance, and possess drug paraphernalia.
  • Elton Stoffel was charged with trafficking heroin, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver fentanyl, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Craven County Task Force is made up of deputies from the Special Investigations Bureau, Interdiction Unit, K-9 Unit, and Criminal Patrol Bureau.
